Lundbeck Named a Best Workplace in Chicago by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE

Biopharmaceutical company dedicated to restoring brain health recognized as top Chicago employer

Deerfield, Ill., May 21, 2020 – Lundbeck US, an affiliate of the global biopharmaceutical company H. Lundbeck A/S, announced today it has been recognized as one of the 2020 Best Workplaces in Chicago by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE. The recognition is based on anonymous survey feedback from more than 27,000 employees representing a variety of employers and industries in the Chicago metropolitan area.

“We’re very honored to be named a Best Workplace in Chicago, but this recognition is really about our people: the dedicated individuals who make Lundbeck great through their passion for improving the lives of people impacted by brain diseases,” says Peter Anastasiou, executive vice president and head of North America. “Every member of the Lundbeck team contributes to the vibrancy of our culture, ensuring that it stands strong – even in trying times like today – as we pursue our aim of restoring brain health. Being named a Best Workplace is testament to our strong cultural foundation and the unwavering connection we all feel to our purpose.”

Lundbeck was also named a  Top Workplace by the Chicago Tribune and recently was ranked #1 in corporate reputation by patient groups that work or partner with the company. This marks the fifth consecutive year that patient-group partners ranked Lundbeck first among leading pharmaceutical companies.

As the only global biopharmaceutical company focused solely on the brain, Lundbeck is deeply committed to the communities it serves and patient-centricity is at the heart of the corporate culture. Caring for people extends to the internal team, as well, and supporting the health and well-being of employees and their families is a high priority for the company. Lundbeck offers comprehensive health and welfare benefits, work-life programs, flexible work schedules, and a recognition program that includes peer-to-peer awards as well as quarterly and annual recognition.

To encourage and enable action through volunteerism, Lundbeck US offers employees one paid volunteer day off per calendar year to use for volunteering at the organization of their choice.

All full-time employees receive 25 paid days off per year, and there is a company-wide holiday shut-down between Christmas and New Year’s Day. In addition, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company recently extended two weeks of fully paid Emergency Paid Sick Leave to all U.S. employees.

The company’s commitment to mental health starts within, and Lundbeck offers a variety of workplace programs geared toward reducing the stigma of mental illness and supporting employees’ mental health. For example, Lundbeck offers employees full access to the resources of Right Direction, an initiative it has supported nationwide that helps employers take on depression in the workplace. What’s more, in response to the heightened stress some colleagues may be experiencing due to the current pandemic, Lundbeck is offering a variety of virtual mental health programming and extending support available through the employee assistance program.
